10 Ways To Keep Your Brain Healthy

The brain is a fascinating device. Its our main asset in life, because its productivity is proportional to our performance. Here are 10 ways to improve your brain.

1. Eat fish.
Fish contains omega-3 fatty acids. They are strong antioxidants, and they also improve the blood flow in your brain. Incorporate fish at least three times per week, and soon you’ll see yourself getting smarter.

2. Never skip breakfast.
After 8 hours of sleep, your brain is hungry. Actually, it is starving. Imagine how it feels if your breakfast is a cup of coffee and a donut. Healthy food – healthy brain. What better way to start the day than a protein-rich breakfast as an omelette? Do yourself a favor and make this a habit.

3. Eat spicy foods.
Without going into much details, spicy foods increase the blood flow to your brain. More blood flow means more oxygen. And oxygen is the main fuel of the brain. 80% of the oxygen you breathe is being consumed by your brain.

4.Learn a foreign language.
This is the ultimate workout for your brain. It is forced to think in different patterns and in different enviroment. This way, your brain soon adapts and learns how to be more flexible. The ability to learn new things is crucial to the brain’s health.

5. Drink red wine.
I don’t have to tell you that red wine is good for you. And it’s not like I’m telling you to eat oatmeal. It takes little effort to have a glass of wine every day, and it pays off. Give your brain some red wine to keep it healthy.

6. Sing!
While singing, you inhale much more oxygen than normal.You also breathe through the diafragm, which gives your brain more oxygen.

7. Eat lots of protein.
Foods like eggs, meat and milk should be a part of your daily menu. An aminoacid called triptophan is what the brain neurons need to be kept in optimal condition. This aminoacid is contained primarily in dairy products. However, any source of proteins is more than welcome.

8. Drink coffee.
Drink a cup of coffee every day, but just one. One cup can help your brain to think better, but more than that will only do harm.

9. Listen to clasical music.
Listening to the works of Bach for example is proven to raise your IQ temporarily. Which means, that the brain is more comfortable when it hears this type of music. That doesn’t mean you’ll get smarter by listening to it, but you will give your brain a chance to rest.

10. Use green spices.
Every green spice you can think of has a wonderful effect on your brain. Eat as much of them as you want. You can’t overdose it, and you can’t go wrong with them in any way.
